REMINDER: Carter Middle School Band Area Concert at the Sterling Heights High School Gymnasium
Just a REMINDER for all Carter Middle School Bands on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., each band will be performing at the Carter Area Concert located in the Sterling Heights High School Gymnasium [12901 15 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48312]. Below are the call times when we begin warming-up on stage and in uniform:
Set-up Crew – 5:45pm
6th Grade: 6:10pm – White Dress Shirt, Black Pants, Black Socks, Black Shoes
7th Grade: 6:20pm – Yellow Band Sweater, White Dress Shirt, Black Pants, Black Socks, Black Shoes
8th Grade: 6:30pm – Band Jacket, Bowtie, White Dress Shirt, Black Pants, Black Socks, Black Shoes
You are to be set-up and in your seat ready to play at the call time. Attire is your band uniform. ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN FOR THE ENTIRE CONCERT AND NO CELL PHONES ON THEM DURING THE PERFORMANCE! CARTER CELL PHONE POLICY APPLIES DURING THE CONCERT! Please remember this performance includes the feeder elementary schools, Carter Middle School and Cousino High School Patriot Marching Band. All students have worked very hard for this performance. REMINDER: District Band Festival 2018
On Friday, March 2, 2018 the Carter Middle School bands will be participating in the M.S.B.O.A. District XVI Band and Orchestra Festival at Roseville Middle School located at 16250 Martin Rd, Roseville, MI 48066. The Concert Band (7th grade – Class D) performs at 4:00 p.m. and the Symphonic band (8th grade – Class B) performs at 8:15 p.m. Band Festival consists of a performance on stage of three songs, and a sight-reading portion. Both portions are rated by a total of four judges. If the students play to their potential and earn a first division rating, they will qualify to perform at the State Band Festival held in late April.
ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO RIDE THE BUS TO FESTIVAL. If you wish to transport your child home from Festival PLEASE notify me IN WRITING before the day of Festival. PLEASE do not ask me on the day of Festival if your child can leave with you. Realize that I am responsible for two bands, over 100 students that day, and I don’t want anyone left behind.
I encourage you, your family members and friends to attend Band Festival to support your child and the Carter band program. There is no admission charge and it is a unique opportunity to observe the performance and sight-reading. For the sight-reading portion, the students are given three minutes to prepare one new musical selection without playing; then, are expected to perform them to the best of their ability.

Night of Fright Pizza Fundraiser Concert: Important Information for Carter Band Parents
The Carter Band Family Night of Fright Pizza Night is our big fundraiser which supports our band program. The date is Wednesday, October 25, 2017 (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm).
All Carter band students are expected to perform throughout the evening. To keep things from getting too congested during the event, band performances are scheduled at different times throughout the evening:
Cadet Band between 6:00pm to 6:20pm
Concert Band between 6:20pm to 6:40pm
Symphonic Band between 6:40pm to 7:00pm
Bands will perform for approximately 15 minutes somewhere within the scheduled times above.
Band members can purchase tickets to the fundraiser during their regular band hour. Tickets/Wrist Bands will be given to the students the Monday after the order form and payment are received. Please make sure you ask for the tickets from your student; we cannot issue refunds or replace lost tickets. There is no limit on how many tickets you can
purchase – invite your family to enjoy this wonderful evening out!
The pre-order ticket cost is as follows:
$6.00 (all you can eat pizza, salad, dessert & drinks) 9 & under
$8.00 (all you can eat pizza, salad, dessert & drinks) Carter Band Student
$10.00 (all you can eat pizza, salad, dessert & drinks) 10 & older
(tickets purchased the night of the event will be an additional $2.00)
To make this evening a successful event, the Carter Band Program needs your support. We are in need of the following:

SYMPHONIC BAND PERFORMANCE WITH COUSINO
Greetings from the Cousino Bands! We are very excited to have all current 8th grade band students join us on Friday, October 13th, as the Cousino Patriots Varsity Football team will play Port Huron High School. We are inviting you to perform with the Cousino Marching Band during pre-game as well as join us in the stands for plenty of fun and pep band tunes. From there you’ll be able to watch our halftime show and enjoy the rest of the game with the “Patriots” Marching Band.
On Thursday, October 12th, we ask that all students attend a special marching band rehearsal to learn the pre-game routine as well as have an opportunity to meet and work with the high school students. The schedule is as follows:
*Thursday, October 12th – Practice at Cousino High School (band room) 3:15-5:00 pm.
*Friday, October 13th – Meet at Cousino High School (practice field) 5:45 pm.
- Pregame performance (stadium) 6:45 pm.
- Football Game (pep band etc.) 7:00-9:30pm (approx.).
8th grade band students uniform/apparel for the evening will be decided by their band director (red/white/blue, something warm also recommended). Also, if you would like to see the WCS marching bands perform prior to the 13th, we will have the WCS Bandorama on Sunday the 8th at Sterling Heights High School (4pm) and MSBOA Festival on Wednesday the 11th at Warren Mott HS as well. It would be great to see you there.
Also, feel free to join the band after the game at Leo’s Coney Island on Van Dyke, north of fourteen mile road for our final game of the year fundraiser.
