The director
Richard L. Case is the current Director of Bands at Carter Middle School. Case earned in Bachelor of Music Education K-12 from Oakland University, and is a proud Grizzly Alumni. While attending Oakland, he studied underneath Dan Maslanka, Dr. Greg Cunningham, as well as Dr. Joe Shively. While a member of the Percussion Ensemble with Maslanka, Case as well as the other members earned a coveted MaTilDa award for their efforts and creation of the Percussion Pops! Ensemble. Richard then proceeded to further his education with Masters degree in Curriculum Design and Teacher Leadership. He is an active clinician for percussion, teaching the Sterling Heights High School Drum line, as well as writing/teaching percussion for other high schools and colleges.
Case is happily married and has one son who already has taken to instruments. In what little free time there is, Richard likes working on cars and anything to do with tools or golf. He is an avid baseball coach and loves the outdoors.
Mr. Case is thrilled to continue his career in Warren Consolidated Schools and is looking forward to continuing and building upon the fantastic musicianship of the Carter Bands!
